Terence Crawford has once again asserted his conviction that the highly anticipated Netflix boxing match between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson was predetermined.
The announcement of Mike Tyson's return from retirement sparked widespread excitement among long-time boxing fans. Many hoped to witness their idol compete again and, potentially, put an end to "The Problem Child's" controversial boxing career. However, Tyson struggled to land significant punches throughout the eight-round contest, ultimately losing by unanimous decision.
This defeat now marks Tyson's professional record, but fellow boxing legend Terence Crawford casts doubt on the bout's legitimacy. Crawford, skeptical of Jake Paul's career trajectory, labeled the victory over Tyson as fraudulent.
"He's not going to land a fist on [Floyd] Mayweather," Crawford commented, referencing rumored future fights. "Not after his last performance."
Crawford further explained his suspicions: "I don't know, I think it was scripted. I ain't never seen Tyson biting his gloves. Like, you could just [see]. It was taking all that he could not to hit him."
Mike Tyson's unusual gesture of biting his gloves during the fight fueled widespread fan conspiracy theories, claims that Terence Crawford now supports as credible.
Regardless of whether the fight was genuinely rigged, Crawford expressed sorrow at seeing Tyson compete, especially if financial necessity was the primary motivation. "It's heartbreaking to see an icon go out like that. He shouldn't have been in there at all," he stated. "You know, I think [there's] other ways... With all his connections and things like that, I think people could have put him in the right position to make some money."
